Gratitude: A Natural Antidepressant
Gratitude: A Natural Antidepressant

What are you grateful for in this moment? Right here, right now. Did you know gratitude can be a natural antidepressant? When we take time to ask ourselves, “what am I grateful for” certain neural circuits in our brain are activated, which increase dopamine and serotonin. When these two neurotransmitters are released, they travel to the “bliss” center of the brain. By doing so, gratitude can cause the same effect as that of medications and create feelings of contentment. Like anything else, this practice can take time. I encourage you all to make gratitude a value and practice it daily. Repeat after me (comment below): Today, I am grateful. I am.
